    • Children, family members, youth and adults whose lievs have been impacted by child abuse
    • Police investigators, child-welfare workers and treatment professionals, providing them with a child-friendly atmosphere and supportive staff during an interview of alleged childhood abuse
    • Other agencies seeking mentor training or consultation on receiving disclose and mentor support systems
    • Professionals seeking client consultation
    • Volunteers who wish to train in various capacities to support the Gatehouse mission

    • Response to a Family Crisis Program (investigation and advocacy support during investigations)
    • Gatehouse Awareness Program (G.A.P.) (outreach and education speeches)

  4. What makes The Gatehouse unique?
    It is the only facility of it's kind in Canada There are no fees for services that we offer to participants or investigation teams Programs are unique because we do not duplicate other services offered at other organizations. We have no geographic catchment area Our observances of investigation parameters is professional and informed We offer children a new teddy bear and child-sized hand-made quilt and refreshments only after their interview is over A trained Investigation and Adult Support Coordinator is available on site during business hours

    Over 3,500 people have been supported since June of 1998

  6. How is The Gatehouse funded?
    • The operating budget for 2004 is approximately $340,000.00
    • Funding comes from corporate & individual gifts, foundations & special events
    • We receive no permanent baseline government or United Way funding

  7. What are the hours of operation?
    Staff members are on site 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday Open to police & child welfare representatives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
